Soon after I moved in I discovered the situation was intolerable. I told them I had a lot of stuff and described what I had. After I moved in the landlady insisted I had too much stuff and wanted me to get a storage unit. I was supposed to be able to have visiters and no limitations were given other than no Male visiters. I had a friend come over to help me organize and get rid of stuff to please them (female) she was polite, quiet and respectful. They resrticted visits afterwards to only once or twice a month and only if one of the family was home. They said that my room was my room and they would not enter but then tried to make every excuse to enter. I found a hole in my door knobb where someone has used a screwdriver to get in. They said I had kitchen use but have made me feel uncomfortable using it, even though I always clean up after myself and they don’t. I thought I was moving into a friendly inviroment but time after time they have treated me rudely. In any case I could go into more details but I gave my 30 day notice on Jan. 28. They did not mention the 3 days at the end of December at the time. I paid for 1 month on Dec.28 and 1 monh on Jan. 28.
I know the rent is month to month but would be moving on the 27th even if february was not a short month. I feel that I did not get the accomodations I expected in any case and they have nerve to insist after the fact on the 3 days pay. Do i really owe them the 3 days? Shouldn’t they have asked for that back when I gave my notice and paid just the 1 month?
I called a local government agency and they said that it comes out even if I move out on the 27th. I have offered 1 day extra pay as an effort to be fair. The Landlady said that if I had a good heart I would pay her the 3 days. My feeling is that if she had a good heart I wouldn’t have to be moving. I am the one who is losing out the most financially with lost work, having to pay someone to help me move and paying rent for 2 places on the days I am moving…..She is charging on the high side what is normal for this erea and accomodations. That’s why when she put such severe limitations on all the accomodations I was ticked off, because I am already paying more than what is really fair and was not informed of the limitations before moving in.
