my life is crazy!!!
i’m currently taking my GCSEs so it’s important that im organized but my room is in tatters. we recently received some money and my mum and dad said they would do my room after they have done the kitchen (this is back in july/august of last year btw). anyways, they planned everything out and even asked me to put everything (including my clothes) somewhere so it’ll be a lot quicker when they do my room, so i put all my stuff neatly into storage boxes and had my desk and wardrobe thrown out (not my idea :(). my dad then complained that he didn’t want all my stuff in boxes and made me sort it out. now all my stuff is living in bags and 1 storage basket and looks like a wasteland. this is doing my head in as there has been sooooo many times that i need something and can’t find it or i need a desk to do my homework and i end up using my bed -_- all i’m asking is have you guys got any ideas on how to keep this all organised and how i can sort my homework/school stuff out until they actually get round to my room. please and thank you.

My partner and I were assigned a a project that would have us start our own business. We are only given 100,000$ and were planning on opening a pawn shop in either Las Vegas or somewhere in the South Beach area. We are planning to get most of our items by buying storage auctions, much like the show Storage Wars.
Given that renting or leasing a place in that area is going to be expensive, we are worried that we won’t have enough money to do everything that we want. Our teacher said that we must make our money legally and are not allowed to do anything illegal to make money such as money laundering or Ponzi scheme. We are also not allowed to bet on any sports events since we could possibly lose all our money as we do not know the outcome.
Any help with getting a legal way to make money would be appreciated, and unfortunately investing isn’t really an option as the project is due in 3 weeks and any way we increase our money is done by real time standards, so we have 3 weeks to get more money essentially.

I’m currently in the process of moving abroad, and have looked into several self-storage facilities in the Edinburgh area. One of the companies called me after I requested a quote for a unit. They asked the reason for storing items, and I stupidly told them I was moving abroad, they asked how long I’d be gone (at least 5 years) and if I’d be returning to gain access to my items (no).

The quote I requested was for a personal approx. 50 cubic ft unit. They suggested that I put my items in a communal unit, but only after finding out I’d be gone for years without returning. They said only an employee would have access to the unit and that it was VERY secure. The entire way he explained it to me, it sounded incredibly UNsecure. WHY would I ever trust employees of a storage company to not go in and steal my belongings when they know I’m gone for years?

Just wondering if anyone has come across this before. I’ve never stored items in the UK, only in the US, but having a communal storage unit sounds VERY strange to me. I feel like I’m just asking for my things to be rifled through and stolen. Is this a normal thing? Also, is £10 per week ridiculously high? My previous unit in the US, which was a good size and temp controlled, was only $30 per month.

I’m not going to go through this company, obviously, and any company I do go through, I’m going to lie to and tell them I’m just moving things out of my crowded home and I’ll be going to add/remove things on a regular basis. I’d like to return in several years to ALL of my items.

Just wondering what others personal experiences have been with self-storage in the UK, so I know what to look out for and what prices to expect.
