I keep seeing all these old military bits left around, be it old vehicles, parts, ships, or whatever. Even bases get abandoned, decommissioned, and just left to rot.
One of my friends said it would be cool to try and get some of that stuff. They figured they could get a really good price on some of it, as the military can’t afford to let it fall apart, nor can they afford to keep it, so the stuff is left to just decay.
I figured some of the stuff that can’t be saved, we might be able to buy it, or if it is bad enough, offer to take it (like that’ll work) and try to scrap it ourselves and sell off the scrap.
with the condition of some of the stuff, we should be able to make a little money off of cutting the broken husk of a rusted out ship and selling it for the steel value. not a whole lot, but it would be something.
SO, my question is, exactly who (or what department or division) of each branch should I contact about offering to take/buy their garbage items?
There is some cool looking stuff that nobody wants, so I was wondering who exactly I should contact?
Where I used to live, there was an abandoned naval base, everything of value taken away, just a couple rotting buildings and an expanse of concrete (cracked and broken.) Who exactly should I contact if I wanted to offer to buy such an abandoned base? Was thinking of taking such a thing and renting dock space, and try to save the old buildings and convert them to self storage or something.
thanks.

Ok, so I sold some decent PC speakers on eBay and they were won by a guy with a score of (2) which I wasn’t too happy with. However, the delivery address seems like self storage in London I think, but he is shown as living in Bulgaria. I got paid within a few days and he then email me asking if I was going to send it in the original box, which made me even more nervous. I haven’t sent the item yet and said I would on Friday. What can I do to ensure paypal don’t refund him after I send it for any reason?

Due to winning a storage unit in an auction, I acquired 27 vending machines.
I have table-top mechanical snack machines, semi-mechanical soda machines, one large industrial vending machine, and variously sized snack machines.
Before I am able to sell them, I have to drill the locks on the ones that I do not have the keys for. Also, I have to make sure that they are customizable, and all in working order.
I was asked if we can change the currently-placed coin acceptors, which are, basically, knobs that only turn when you have coins in them, which fall into a tray, when spun. I know that I can remove the need for coins, but I need to know where I can find more of these coin-receiving knobs.
My soda machines do not have a manufacturer name, but I believe they are from a ‘non-existent’ company called ‘VendMark’. It is model # NSV_186. The snack machines do not have these model # stickers, so I have no idea what they are, but they have the same type of ‘knob’ mechanism for the coins.
I need these, again.
If anybody has any information about where I can go about buying these knobs, or even making my own, please let me know.
All related help is appreciated..
Thanks!

I own a small hauling business. I did a job yesterday for a company to clean out their storage unit that was total of $540 dollars. I did the job and emailed them the invoice. They emailed me back and told me to fill out a w-9 form. Should they have given that to me before I did the job? Do I have to fill this thing out? It asks for my social security number and personal info.

I’m not sure if they do that though i know they will bring your stuff but do they pack it to?
Anyone know of any good company that won’t cost me an arm and a leg?
Where i’m staying now is very small i have a whole house where i’m from and i’m in an apartment now. Will they deliver to a storage unit,if i meet them there? & one more question i have a dog staying with my sister, how will i go about getting him here?

My ex friend had some stuff in our storage. She had access and a key. She did not help pay for 7 months and promised that she would this month. Found out that was a lie; Public Storage disabled the gate code for delinquent payment. After 7 months, she feels that she should only pay $40, since “it’s in my name and my responsibility.” Since then I have removed her from access and changed the gate code.. I discovered yesterday that she had unlawfully accessed my storage account online and: added an unlisted number as the primary contact number, moved my primary number to alternate and changed the password. Also she was reported by another customer of the storage place that he/she was approached after hours by a woman asking to let her in when he/she put in their access code. Since she had no key (or maybe she had a copy), I believe she would have gained entry, used bolt cutters to enter the unit and remove everything. What recourse can I take from this wolf in sheep’s clothing?
In The Storage Wars episode titled “unlocked”, Barry Weiss had a large breifcase handcuffed to his wrist. I turned to the channel right at the end of the episode and the camera never showed what was in the box. Sooo, As Brad Pitt said in the movie “SE7EN”…. “What’s in the box?”…. “Whats in the box?”… “come on, whats in the box?”
If there is a website that has a picture of the item, can you please post a link in the respnse. I dont know why its so important but i’m just curious. I’d love to start going to storage auctions. It’d be a lot of fun, even if i just broke even.

Cells are the smallest unit of life that can do all of life’s processes. Every part of the cell works like a system. Everything has a specific job that is very important. Prison and animal cells are alike.
The cell membrane controls what goes in and out of the cell. In a prison, the cell membrane would be the walls and doors of the prison that keeps the prisoners from escaping. In the same way that the cell membrane only lets things that should get i and the things that should get out, the walls and doors of the prison keep the prisoners in and not out, restrict access to the prison, and allow the guards to enter and exit as they wish.
The nucleus in a cell is the central part of the cell, and controls everything it does. The nucleus is like the prison’s warden in that just like how the warden is in complete control of the prison, the nucleus is in complete control of the cell. Also, just like how the warden is the most important person in the prison, the nucleus is the most important organelle.
Lysosomes in a cell are the organelles that break down wastes in the cell. The lysosomes are like an electric chair in that just like how the lysosomes destroy wastes, the electric chair will destroy the prisoner.
The cytoplasm is like the air in the prison in that just like how the cytoplasm surrounds all of the organelles in the cell, the air in the prison surrounds everything in the prison. Also, just like how the organelles communicate with each other through the cytoplasm people communicate with each other through the air.
The endoplasmic reticulum is a system of tubes where material is created and moved around the cell. In a prison, the endoplasmic reticulum could be like the hallways and doors Everything moves around in the hallways, and the doors lead to places where things are created.
The chromosomes contain hereditary material known as DNA. In a prison, the chromosomes would be like the record room, where they keep the criminal records.
The mitochondria are the energy source, or powerhouse of the cell. In a prison a generator, or the electric company would act as mitochondria. It provides all the energy needed to power the prison. Just as the mitocondria provide all of the energy to power the cell.
Vacuoles are the storage units for a cell. They hold food and water. Vacuoles are like the prison cells, they don’t allow what is inside to escape from within. When a prisoner is put in a cell, the prisoner cannot escape from the cell, just like the items inside a vacuole cannot escape from the vacuole.
The Golgi apparatus is the place where the chemicals are packaged and sent through out the cell. In a prison, the mail room would be like the Golgi apparatus. In the mail room, everyhting is packaged and sent off to places from the prison.
Cells and prisons are a lot alike. I CAN’T THINK OF THIS PART!!!!
Oh and please please help me with Ribosomes!!!!

Animal Cells and Prisons
Cells are the smallest units of life that can perform all of life’s processes. Prisons are locked facilities that keep criminals away from the rest of society. Cells and prisons are very much alike.
Every part of the cell works like a system. Every part has a specific job that is vital for the effective functioning of the cell. Same thing for a prison.
The cell membrane controls what goes in and out of the cell. In a prison, the cell membrane would be the walls and doors of the prison that keeps the prisoners from escaping. In the same way that the cell membrane only lets things that should get in and the things that should get out, the walls and doors of the prison keep the prisoners in and not out, restrict access to the prison, and allow the guards to enter and exit as they wish.

Also, just like how the organelles communicate with each other through the cytoplasm people communicate with each other through the air.
The endoplasmic reticulum is a system of tubes where material is created and moved around the cell. It holds the ribosomes, which make the material also. In a prison, the endoplasmic reticulum could be like the hallways and doors Everything moves around in the hallways, and the doors lead to places where things are created.

The nuclear membrane is the membrane around the nucleus that controls what goes in and out of the cell. In a prison, the warden’s office doors would act as a nuclear membrane. Only certain things can come in and out.
Ribosomes are the protein makers for the cell to consume. In a prison, ribosomes would be like the cafeteria, providing food to the prisoners.
Cells and prisons are a lot alike. Without every organelle, the cell would not function properly. In the same way, a prison would not function properly without all of its parts. Everything has a specific job that needs to be fulfilled.

Storage Boxes
I bought 3 female guppies from frosts (a plant store which sells fish and chickens, in bad conditions i must add). I wasn’t planning on breeding them as I knew I wouldn’t have all the equipmet or time for so many fish. They live in a plastic see through storage box with a heater and an aqua-flow 50 filter. It holds about 24 litres (5 gallons?)
I have had these guppies for 7 weeks and two days in that ‘tank’.
I used Tetra safe start to cycle the tank ’straight away’ with the guppies. I did regular water changes for the week after, adding more safe start each time. They didn’t show any signs of stress and are doing well. I also add aquarium salt.
I had read from numerous websites that this was ok for just 3 guppies.
Turns out all 3 of them are pregnant. I have 10 fry in a breeder box right now. One is 4 weeks and 5 days old. The other 9 are 1 week and 2 days old. Yesterday I set up another storage box with a filter (same make) and a fake plant, sand and some decor. I put in about 3 litres water and a handful of sand from the other tank in it. I filled it with tap water, which has had tap safe added.
I want to move either the mothers or the guppy fry into the new tank using safe start. I don’t have another heater as i don’t have enough money right now. I’ve checked the temp of both tanks just now and they are both 26 oc (78 of).
I wasn’t prepared for babies, as i wasn’t planning on having any. This is why I don’t have a heater for them. I’m worried about the amount of fish in the first tank causing an amonia, nitrite spike. I changed 50% percent of the water yesterday while setting up the new tank. The fish seem happy and well. I don’t want them to die, I do care for them.
What should I do? The safe start has worked for me but I know fry are more sensitive to change. Should i move the adults? There will most likely be more fry and I know the tank wouldn’t beable to handle the load. I don’t want the fry to die!
Sorry if this is too much!
