I am wondering if it is better to move my stuff or leave it all in a storage unit OR just take it with me? My car gets lousy gas mileage so I figure I might as well take all my stuff and be done with it. But what is the wiser choice?

My bedroom is the loft of my family’s house. Therefore, it’s quite large, but has no closet!! I have a tacky metal clothing rack from a drapery company (lol), but I have a lot of clothes so it’s quite covered and doesn’t look too bad. I have a lot of accessories, shoes, bags, etc. (I’m a girl, come on!), but no where to put my junk. So basically, right now the futon I have in my room beside my bed is my storage unit. So my mom found this guy on a dating site. He has no job, no car, and a lazy eye. Slowly, he’s been moving in, and he emptied his entire storage unit into our house until we couldn’t park the car in the garage anymore. That was hard enough to get my head around. Well, this weekend, I find out they’re secretly engaged now! I’m reeeally not okay with this, but my mom thinks I should be. I have had most of my belongings in a self storage unit for about a year, today I decided to taken everything out. When I opened the unit there was mold on my furniture, animal droppings on everything, and also holes chewed out of the furniture and though a toy box. What can I do? I have left everything undisturbed and do not no the damage of anything beyond the door.
After digging though everything in storage yesterday I was only able to pull out a few totes that were any good. When I finally got everything cleared out to try t figure out the cause of the problem I was able to find a rather large hole that was letting in the rodents. After contacting the owner we were able to resolve the problem. She has offered to refund all payments for the last year, and seeing I never keep receipts I did keep the one for my furniture because of a warranty (not good anymore though) they also offered to pay for that. I have lost pictures and other things that were priceless, but thanks to digital technology I am not out any of though either, kids toys, and clothing and everything else can be replaced.
