ughhhh, so i’m on a pentium 3 now with 190mb ram…

i have a fricken Compaq Presario, and it’s been having issues for a long time, i just tookit back out of the storage unit so i could try to make it work. i got it to format and everything, but the battery at MAX charges up to 6%, and i see the little “Charging” light on the laptop when i plug it into the wall, that light turns off and it stops charging after a minute or two.

so, laptop PLUGGED into wall still turns off? Could it be a defective battery? or a defective charger?

could it be any other hardware malfunctions?

at times it says “battery critical, plug in charger” or whatever, and i do it ,and it shows it starts to charge, then all of a sudden it disappears like it was never charging to begin with.

6% is tyhe most i’ve seen the battery at.

should i get a new battery? new AC adpater charger? or should I bring it into a shop and let them look? (keep in mind i’m poor and don’t have money to be paying them to inspect then telll me i need a new battery or soemthing,

oh and if it means anything at all, i cracked the screen when trying to replace the backlight on the damned thing and now i use a regular monitor plugged into it. (i was careless towards the end of the project and just tried to throw it back together, and what do you know, snapped in a corner of the screen thing, and wa-lah! cracked screen. ( i don’t care about replacing it, i have no problem using a normal monitor. i just want the thing to STOP turning off on me.

oh, PS someone told me u can turn a laptop on with battery out of it, and just have AC plugged in, mine doesnt even turn on like that. (just adding that in if it means anything)
